As part of message template configuration, you can select a default value for an HL7 field in an outbound message.

To configure a field's default value:

  1. Select Medical | HL7 | Message Template.
  2. Select a message template containing the field and click Segments.
  3. Select the segment containing the field and click Fields.
  4. Select the field and click Settings. The HL7 Field Settings dialog box is displayed.
  5. In the Default Value section, enter one of the Outbound Default Value Options.
  6. Click Save.
