The database table hl7listenerlog logs all messages received by the system. Depending on your environment, this table can grow to be very large. You can manage the size of the table by setting a limit on how long to retain logs.

CAUTION:

The process of setting a retention period and purging old logs can take a long time and may be highly resource intensive. Contact your first line of support before proceeding.

To configure the listener log retention period:

  1. Select Medical | HL7 | Settings. The HL7 Settings dialog box is displayed.
  2. In the Number of days to retain listener log field, enter the number of days after which old logs will be deleted. The entered value must be 0, 30, or greater than 30, because logs must be retained for at least 30 days. The default value is 365, meaning logs are retained for a year.
Note: If the Number of days to retain listener log field is changed to any value other than 0, the HL7 Log Pruner task must be configured and running in the Unity Scheduler in order to ensure that OnBase continues to purge the old Listener Log records after upgrading.
  3. Click Save. A message warns that enabling the listener log retention period may take a while to complete and can impact system performance.
  4. Click Yes to proceed and purge existing logs older than the retention period.
Future logs will be automatically deleted after the configured retention period has passed.
