On systems licensed for E-Forms, you can map HL7 fields to E-Form fields that are configured for non-Keyword data. This feature may be useful with import processes that automatically create E-Forms from HL7 messages.

You might use this kind of mapping if an HL7 value provides useful information but would not be useful as a Keyword Value. For example, if an HL7 message contains a generic Description field, you may want to pull that information into a form without making it available as a Keyword Value.

Note:

With this configuration, HL7 values can overwrite the default values in the mapped E-Form fields. If E-Form fields should retain their default values, do not map them to HL7 fields.

To map an HL7 field to a non-keyword E-Form field:

  1. Configure an E-Form. Refer to the E-Forms module reference guide for configuration information.
  2. In OnBase Configuration, select Medical | HL7 | Message Template.
  3. Select the message template configured for the HL7 eForm import process.
  4. Click Segments.
  5. Select the segment that contains the value you want to associate with the non-Keyword field on the E-Form.
  6. Click Fields.
  7. Select the appropriate field and click Settings.
  8. In the User Defined field, type the following information:

    $=[Name of Non-Keyword Field]

For example, if the E-Form field is named Description, you would enter the following value:

    $=Description

  9. Click Save.
