The following procedure describes how to configure AutoFill Keyword Set merging.

  1. In the Configuration module, select Medical | HL7 | Message Template.
  2. Select a merge message template to configure, or create a new message template. In the following example, the Message Type is ADT^A40 Merge patient - internal ID.
  3. Click Segments.
  4. Configure the settings as you would for any other message template. Since this is a merge message template, you must ensure that the MRG and PID segments are in the Selected Segments dialog box.
  5. Configure the field that contains the old (non-surviving) keyword data. Select MRG Merge Information, and click Fields.
  6. Select the field that you would like to merge on. In this example, this field is 4.1 Prior PatientID(ExtrnlID) ID.
  7. Click Settings.
  8. Assign a Keyword Type to the field from the drop-down. This Keyword Type forms the link between the surviving value and the non-surviving value. In the following example, the assigned Keyword Type is Master Patient Index.
  9. From the Merge Source Identifier drop-down, select the field type that this represents. In this example, it is the MPI.
    Note:

You must select a Merge Source Identifier to use this field for AutoFill Keyword Set merging.

  10. When you are finished, click Save, and then click Close to return to the Segments configuration screen.
  11. Select the PID segment, and click Fields.
  12. Select the field that you want to merge on. In this example, it is 2.1 Patient ID(External ID) ID.
  13. Click Settings.
  14. Assign it the same Keyword Type as the MRG segment that you configured previously, and for which this will be a replacement value. In this example, the Keyword Type is Master Patient Index.
    Note:

The Merge Source Identifier is not available as an option. This is only configured on the MRG segment.

  15. Click Save.
