HL7 translation tables are configured in OnBase Configuration. The following steps describe how to create a translation table by assigning HL7 codes to OnBase values.
To create a translation table:
-
Select Medical | HL7 | Translation Tables. The HL7 Translation Tables dialog box is displayed.
-
Do one of the following:
-
Type a name for the translation table and click Create.
-
Select an existing table and click Settings.
The HL7 Translation Values dialog box is displayed.
-
-
In the lower-left field, type the HL7 message value you want to map.
Note:
HL7 message values in translation tables are not case-sensitive. Values will be matched and translated as specified regardless of the case of the original value. Values are limited to a maximum of 63 characters.
-
In the lower-right field, type the value that the HL7 value should be translated to in OnBase.
Note:
If this translation table will be used to create OnBase charts, the table's OnBase values must match the HL7 field specifiers for the corresponding chart attribute. Many chart attributes, such as Admit Types, are assigned an HL7 field specifier when they are configured in OnBase. Values are limited to a maximum of 63 characters.
-
Click Insert to add the mapping to the translation table.
-
To update a mapping, select it, modify its values, and click Update.
-
To remove a mapping from the translation table, select it and click Delete.
-
- Click Close to close the HL7 Translation Values dialog box.
- When you are done configuring translation tables, click Close to close the HL7 Translation Tables dialog box.
- Assign the translation table to an HL7 message field, as described in the next procedure.
