To use the Allergy Processor, make sure the following chart data fields are mapped1 to HL7 message template fields:
Required Chart Data Field |
Description |
---|---|
MPI Number |
The Master Patient Index for an existing patient in OnBase. |
Allergy - Allergy1 |
The code that uniquely identifies a specific allergy. |
Allergy - Drug Detail |
The description of the specified allergy. If your solution displays patient allergy information in the OnBase Patient Window, the allergy description is the value displayed in the banner. |
In a typical message, the allergy information segment should present the allergy code and its description using this format:
AL1|1|DA| V14.0 ^ PENICILLIN |...
In this case, the Allergy - Allergy1 chart data field would be mapped to AL1.3.1, which contains the code V14.0. The Allergy - Drug Detail chart data field would be mapped to AL1.3.2, which contains the description PENICILLIN.
Additional allergy-related chart data fields are available to track other information, including the allergy type, severity, and a description of the patient's allergic reaction.
Certain chart data fields must be mapped to HL7 messages at the field or component level; they cannot be mapped to subcomponents. For allergy information, these fields are Allergy - Allergy1, Allergy - Severity, Allergy - Probability, Allergy - Reaction Code, Allergy - Type, Allergy - Route Code, Allergy - Drug Type, Allergy - Info Source Code, and Allergy - Indicator.
