Appointments can be associated with their scheduled locations. This association is useful, because the OnBase Patient Window allows users to search for patients based on appointment location.

For location data to be available in the OnBase Patient Window, the following requirements must be met:

  • The Scheduling - Location chart data field must be mapped to the HL7 field where the location code is expected.

  • Each appointment location must have a description configured in OnBase Configuration, as described in the following procedure.

To create and configure appointment locations:

  1. In OnBase Configuration, select Medical | HL7 | Coded Entries | Location. The Location Code Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  2. Click Create. The Settings dialog box is displayed.
  3. Type the location code in the HL7 Code field.
  4. If applicable, type the assigning authority in the Assigning Authority field.

If HL7 messages will provide an assigning authority for the location code, then the location code configuration must include the assigning authority. For more information, see Assigning Authorities for Appointment Resources.

    Note:

Make sure the HL7 Code and Assigning Authority values are entered correctly. Once you click Save, these values cannot be changed without the -MRMSINSTALL command line switch and password verification.

  5. Type a description of the location in the Description field. The description is the value displayed for appointment locations in the OnBase Patient Window. If no description is provided, Patient Window users will be unable to identify the location.
  6. Click Save.
