The following scenarios describe a few business cases for using the Patient Record Processor:
-
When a patient visits a facility, a medical system's EMR may send OnBase an HL7 message containing the patient's MRNs for other facilities in the medical system. To ensure these MRNs are linked together within OnBase, use the Patient Record Processor to create the MRNs and associate them with one MPI.
-
For conversions, you may want to import patient information from your legacy system without creating the legacy charts in OnBase. Use the Patient Record Processor to bring the patient MPI and MRN information into OnBase without bringing in old charts.
-
If a patient's name changes, you can use the Patient Record Processor to update the patient's name on the patient's related records, charts, and documents.
-
In the event of a MPI merge, the Patient Record Processor can help ensure patient information is correct on records and charts associated with the surviving MPI. For more information, see Updating and Synchronizing Patient Information.
