If the HL7 Listener receives an HL7 merge message for merging one chart into another, the Listener finds both existing charts using the Merge Chart ID # in the HL7 message and the new Chart ID #. It merges the old chart with the new chart, using the new Chart ID #.

The old chart is made obsolete. If applicable, the Virtual E-Form representing the old chart in OnBase Workflow is removed from all life cycles and deleted.

Any documents that existed in the old chart are moved to the new chart.

The new chart will contain all of the values associated with the new Chart ID. Any values from the old chart are disregarded.
