If the HL7 code for a gender does not have a configured display name, you need to create a new Gender Type with a display name for it.

To create a Gender Type:

  1. Select Medical | Gender Types. The Gender Type Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  2. Type the name of the new Gender Type in the available field and click Create. The Gender Settings dialog box is displayed.
  3. Enter the display name for the Gender Type in the Gender Name field.
  4. Enter the HL7 code value for the Gender Type in the Gender Code field. This value cannot be changed once the Gender Type is created.
  5. Click OK to create the new Gender Type.
