To access general settings affecting document attachment and data storage, select Medical | Medical System Settings in OnBase Configuration. The following settings are available on the General tab:
Option |
Description |
---|---|
Medical Records Document Patient and Chart Attachment |
This setting determines the point at which imported medical record documents are initially attached to patients and charts. For more information, see Medical Records Document Patient and Chart Attachment. |
Force Uppercase Alphanumeric Data Fields |
Note:
If you are using an Oracle database, this option is selected by default and should not be disabled. When this option is selected, characters in alphanumeric chart string fields are stored in the database in uppercase. This option helps alleviate issues that could arise with databases that perform case-sensitive querying. Note:
If you select this option after charts have entered your system, then the existing charts may need to be updated to accommodate the new setting, depending on your database. Contact your first line of support for assistance. |
Assign New Medical Records Document Types to Chart Context |
This setting controls whether new medical record Document Types are automatically designated for storing chart documents. Note:
This setting does not apply to new Document Types created by copying existing Document Types. When a Document Type is copied, the resulting copy has the same chart context configuration as the original Document Type. When this setting is enabled:
When this setting is disabled:

Burn Failure Notification User |
This setting specifies the OnBase user who should be notified when a disk group error is found during the document burning process. When a disk group error prevents a document from being burned, the analysis server sends a preconfigured e-mail notification to the user selected here. Ensure the selected user has an e-mail address configured in User Settings. |
Closure Server Polling Interval (Minutes) |
This setting specifies the frequency at which the Closure Server checks for loose documents, suspended charts, and inactive charts. The default value is 1 minute, and the maximum allowed value is 60 minutes. |
Medical Records AutoFill Keyword Set Expands Patient Gender to |
This setting determines whether medical AutoFill Keyword Sets containing a gender Keyword Value should use the HL7 code or the display name to update that Gender Type.
