HL7 may fail to create Front Office Scanning data sets if the user account running the HL7 Listener lacks permissions to the sharepath.

Use the following steps to identify and resolve the issue of insufficient rights to the Front Office Scanning sharepath.

  1. Identify the Windows user account running the HL7 Listener service.
  2. Identify the directory where the HL7 Listener attempted to create the data set. The directory is specified in the error message logged to hl7failedmessages.txt.
  3. Log on to the HL7 service workstation as the user that runs the HL7 Listener.
  4. Verify you can access the directory where the HL7 Listener attempted to create the data set.
    • If you cannot access the directory, but you can access its parent folder, then attempt to create the necessary subfolder.

This step ensures that the service account has sufficient privileges to create subfolders within the sharepath when the HL7 import process is configured to Expand User Names.

    • If you can access the directory, then attempt to create a file by right-clicking and selecting New | Text Document.

  5. If the account's permissions are insufficient, then have an administrator grant the service account the Read and Write NTFS permissions to the sharepath. If the path is a network share, then ensure the account also has the Change share permission.

If the import process needs to create subfolders in the sharepath, then ensure these permissions are applied to the sharepath, its subfolders, and files.

For help assigning permissions, refer to the help and support files for your operating system.
