Patient Administration allows you to change the MPI, MRN, or Chart ID of a record.

Note:

This process does not change the assigning authority associated with the identifier.

To change the ID for a record:

  1. Use the search functionality to add the item you want to change the ID of to the Results list of the Patient Administration window. See Find Patient Records for information on how to search for records.
  2. Click once on the record you want to modify from the Results list, expanding the tree if necessary.
  3. Click the Change ID button. The Change ID dialog box is displayed.

    The Change ID dialog box includes the Internal ID of the record, which does not change, as well as the primary, external ID Number for the record, which is changed by this process.

  4. Enter a new MPI, MRN, or Chart ID for the record in the ID Number field under Target.
  5. Click the Apply button to save the new ID for the record.
