Charts can be sorted in ascending or descending order by one or more columns. Follow these steps to specify the default sort order in OnBase Configuration. Users can re-sort charts as needed within the Healthcare Form Manager.

To configure the default sort order:

  1. Select Medical | User Interface Settings | Patient Window | Display Columns.
  2. Select Chart Search from the User Interface Context drop-down list.
  3. Click Set Sort Order.
  4. Under Available Columns, select the columns to sort by.
  5. Click Add(>>).
  6. To change a column's sort direction (from ascending to descending, for example), do the following:
    1. Select the column from the Selected Sort Order list.
    2. Click Sort Direction.
  7. If you are sorting by multiple columns, use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to specify the order in which sorting should be applied.
For example, if charts should be sorted first by MRN (primary sort) and then by Chart ID (secondary sort), make MRN first in the list, with Chart ID second.
  8. Click Close when finished.
In the Patient Window Display Column Configuration dialog box, an asterisk (*) is displayed next to the columns selected for sorting.
