Rules are configured in the Rule Settings dialog box. The title bar of the dialog box identifies the rule by attribute name and processing type.
You can use the Rule Type drop-down list to set the type of rule. The available rule types are dependent on the processing and encoding types of the message attribute.
The General tab contains the following sections:
-
Settings: Any settings that exist for the selected rule type. See Rule Types and Settings for more information.
-
Processing Options: Settings which control the behavior of the rule during processing. See Processing Options for more information.
-
Cardinality: A setting which controls the optionality and variability of the message attribute. See Cardinality Relationships for more information.
Rules applied to message attributes with an encoding type of Classification or External Identifier also include a Components tab. See Component Attributes and Child Rules for more information.
