Before installing the IHE Service, an IHE community must be created in OnBase Configuration. Each instance of the IHE Service is assigned to a community, and if the community does not exist within OnBase at the time of installation, the service will fail to start.

To create an IHE community:

  1. In the Configuration module, select Medical | IHE | Communities.

    The IHE Communities dialog box is displayed.

  2. Enter the name of the community to be created in the field provided, and click Create.

    The Community Type dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select either Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) or Cross-Enterprise Document Reliable Interchange (XDR), depending on which type of community you want to create.
  4. Click Save to create the community. The Community Settings dialog box is displayed.
  5. At this point, you can either close the Community Settings dialog box and continue with the process of installing the IHE Service as outlined in this chapter, or complete the configuration of the community settings. See Configuring Settings for more information on community configuration.
