An transaction is an interaction between two systems, or actors, within the context of an IHE community. For example, under transaction ITI-41, a Document Source sends documents to a Document Repository to be registered and stored.
In this guide, transactions are generally referred to as messages in order to differentiate between inbound and outbound communication.
