This setting is used to dilate and remove (in memory) the white specks on the bar codes in an image document. This image cleanup can help to prevent bar codes with white specks from being skipped during processing.
By default, the DilateAndErode setting is not present in the onbase32.ini file. If the setting is not present, or if its value is set to 0, bar code images are processed normally (i.e., without the initial cleanup). If the setting's value is set to 1, on the other hand, images are cleaned up in memory through dilation and erosion before they are sent for bar code processing.
