This setting is used to clean up images in memory before sending them for bar code processing, first by dithering the images to monochrome and then by despeckling them. This image cleanup can increase the processing speed for images with tight line graphs (e.g., EKG documents) that tend to take longer to process.
By default, the DitherDespeckle setting is not present in the onbase32.ini file. If the setting is not present, or if its value is set to 0, bar code images are processed normally (i.e., without the initial cleanup). If the setting's value is set to 1, on the other hand, images are cleaned up in memory through dithering and despeckling before they are sent for bar code processing.
