This setting is used to determine if OnBase(using Kofax hardware/software or the Hyland Bar Code Recognition) processes Code 39 (3 of 9) bar codes as Extended Code 39 or Standard Code 39 bar codes.
For more information on the differences between Standard and Extended Code 39 bar code processing (including an explanation of escape characters, escape character sequences, and the characters that are represented by the escape character sequences), see Technical Knowledge Base Article #1683.
By default, the TranslateExtended setting is set to 1(TranslateExtended="1") and OnBase always attempts to process Code 39 bar codes as Extended Code 39 bar codes. This allows the bar code recognition software to identify and process escape character sequences to add certain printing or non-printing characters to the bar code's value.
To force OnBase to process all Code 39 bar codes as Standard 39 bar codes (where there are no escape character sequences; escape characters are treated as standard text characters), set the TranslateExtended setting to 0(TranslateExtended="0").
If you are performing bar code processing with Kofax hardware or software, be aware that the TranslateExtended setting will override the kofax.ini file's BarAlgorithm setting (the Kofax setting that enables/disables Extended 39 bar code processing).
