If you would like to allow certain users to view documents in their unmasked state for certain Document Types but not for others, you will have to configure privilege overrides for the Document Types on which you wish to allow unmasked viewing.

To configure privilege overrides:

  1. In the Configuration module, select Users | User Groups / Rights. The User Groups & Rights dialog box displays.
  2. From the User Group Name list, select the User Group you wish to modify and click Document Types. The Assigning Document Types for <User Group Name> Group dialog box displays.
  3. If the Document Type for which you wish to configure overrides is not already in the Selected for Group section, you will have to add it by doing one of the following:
    • From the left Document Types list, in the Available for Selection section, select the Document Type and click Add>>.

    • From the left Document Types list, in the Available for Selection section, double-click the Document Type.

The Document Type now appears in the Selected for Group section.

    Note:

To add all Document Types for a Document Type Group to the Selected for Group section, select the group from the left Document Type Groups list, in the Available for Selection section, and click Add>>.

  4. Click Override Privileges. The Override Privileges dialog box displays.
  5. Select the desired Document Type for privilege overrides by doing one of the following:
    • From the Available list, select the Document Type and click Add>>, OR

    • From the Available list, double-click the Document Type.

The Document Type now appears in the Selected list.

  6. From the Selected list, select the Document Type and click Settings. The User Rights for Doc Types dialog box displays.
  7. Select View Unmasked Documents.
  8. Click Save.

Users belonging to this User Group will now be able to view documents of this specific Document Type in their unmasked state, even if they do not have general privileges to view documents of all Document Types in their unmasked state.

Note:

The reverse scenario is also true: if you grant certain users general privileges to view documents of all Document Types in their unmasked state but override this privilege for a certain Document Type, these users will not be able to view documents of the overridden Document Type in their unmasked state. In either case, the override settings prevail.
