The Rotation options are used when using OMR marks with print formats configured for landscape printing. The default option is set to Do Not Rotate OMR Bar Codes. When dealing with rotation of OMR bar codes, a few things to remember:
-
The Rotation options are supported for Code 39 (3 of 9) bar codes, 2D bar codes, and standard OMR marks. They are not supported for Intelligent Mail or Postnet bar codes.
-
The top line of text will always correspond to the top OMR bar code.
-
OMR rotation should be configured based upon how the text is printed. Explanations of each rotation option follow.
-
OMR marks can be configured to be anywhere on the page. Your configuration will depend on your printed text.
Select Rotate OMR Bar Codes by -90 Degrees if, when the printed text comes out of the printer, it can be read from top to bottom with no rotation of the paper. In this example, the OMR marks have been rotated -90 degrees from the default vertical position. This is done so the top line of text will correspond to the top OMR mark.
Select Rotate OMR Bar Codes by 90 Degrees if, when the printed text comes out of the printer, it cannot be read from top to bottom without rotating the paper. In this example, the OMR marks have been rotated 90 degrees from the default vertical position. Notice that even though the page is upside down, the actual top line of text still corresponds to the actual top OMR code, even though when the text comes out of the printer, both appear to be on the bottom.
Select the Force OMR Marks to Portrait Orientation check box when the printing job contains statements in both landscape and portrait orientation. This will keep the placement of the printed OMR marks consistent across the two different paper orientations. If this option is not selected for a printing job containing mixed paper orientations, the OMR marks will be rotated 90 degrees on each landscape-oriented page.
If you want to print OMR marks only on the secondary documents, select the Only Print OMR Marks on Secondary Documents option. When enabled, OMR mark printing will not start until the first page of secondary documents. Upon selecting this option, a message box stating Only Print OMR Marks on Secondary Documents is intended for use with primary documents with pre-printed OMR marks only. Please verify that operation of your sorting machine will be unaffected by enabling this option prior to production run. Click OK.
The last page of a primary document will still print the end of collation mark when the Only Print OMR Marks on Secondary Documents option is selected.
