After the OMR Type has been configured, it is necessary to configure the marks within the type. To configure the marks:

  1. Select Printing | OMR Configuration. The OMR Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  2. Select Marks. The OMR Mark Configuration dialog box displays. It consists of two parts: The OMR Mark #: field and the Numeric String Order field. Marks are configured in the OMR Mark #: field first.
  3. In the text field on the left under OMR Mark #:, type a name for the OMR mark. Click Create.
    Note:

Naming the marks in a descriptive fashion (e.g., “Safety Mark”) will make configuring the Mark Arrangement easier.

    Note:

OMR mark names are limited to 24 characters.

    Note:

Once created, OMR marks cannot be renamed.

    Note:

Selecting a mark and clicking Remove will remove the mark and its settings from the database entirely.

  4. The Numeric OMR Mark Settings dialog box is automatically displayed.
    Note:

The Numeric OMR Mark Settings dialog box is alternatively available for each configured OMR mark by selecting the mark and clicking the Settings button.

  5. Select a mark type for the mark from the Numeric Mark Type drop-down. With each mark type selection, different options in the dialog box become active. See Mark Types for information about each mark type.
When each option is set satisfactorily, click Save. All mark settings can be edited after the mark has been saved.
  6. As soon as a mark has been configured, it is displayed in the Numeric String Order field to the right of the OMR Mark # field. Displayed marks can be moved around in the columns to achieve the desired configuration of OMR marks. Depending on where the mark is placed, the Move Up, Move Down, Move Left, and Move Right buttons are enabled. Move the marks until the desired configuration is achieved.
  7. To save the mark configuration, click Exit.
