It is considered a best practice to configure the Physician ID Type Epic External System Key when using the DeficiencyPop SMART on FHIR integration. Configuring this External System Key allows OnBase to pass the correct Provider ID back to Epic when a deficiency is placed or updated in OnBase. The value of the Physician ID Type External System Key must be provided by Epic as this key is used to determine the correct patient record in Epic that matches the incoming patient record from OnBase.

Note: The Physician ID Type Epic External System Key should only be configured for environments using DeficiencyPop with the SMART on FHIR integration, not the COM integration.

To configure the Physician ID Type:

  1. In the OnBase Configuration module, select Utils > External Systems. The External System Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  2. Select Epic and click Values. The External System Parameter Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  3. In the Key field, enter Sig Def Physician ID Type.
  4. In the Value field, enter the Provider ID provided by Epic.
  5. Click Add. The key/value pair is added to the list of pairs.
  6. Click Save.
