The Epic Image Retrieval API integration retrieves documents in their native format if that file format is listed as a supported MIME type by Epic, with the following exceptions:

  • A multi-page image document is always converted to a TIFF image to provide all pages of the document in a single file, regardless of how many image files are associated with the document in OnBase.
Note: A multi-page PDF document is returned in its native format if it is listed as a supported MIME type in Epic.
  • Any document containing an overlay (for example, an appended note) is always converted to a TIFF image.

The following sections describe how to configure the display of documents with overlays in their native format and the requirements for displaying notes on documents retrieved using the Image Retrieval API integration.
