Note: To configure image documents with overlays to display in their native format, you must be on a version of Epic August 2019 or later.

By default, the Image Retrieval API integration always converts any document containing an overlay (for example, an appended note) to a TIFF image for viewing. However, for single-page image documents containing an overlay, an external system key parameter can be configured to override the conversion to a TIFF image and instead, retrieve the document in its native format without the overlay displayed in Epic.

Note: The external system key parameter described in the following procedure applies only to single-page image documents with overlays, not multi-page image documents with overlays as these are always converted to a TIFF image. For more information on the default behavior of retrieving documents using the Image Retrieval API integration, see Epic Image Retrieval API Integration Configuration.

To configure an image document with an overlay to display in native format:

  1. In OnBase Configuration, select Utils | External Systems. The External System Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  2. Select Epic from the External System Names list.
  3. Click Values. The External System Parameter Configuration dialog box is displayed.
  4. Enter the key name Retrieve Native Image in Epic IRA in the Key field.
  5. Enter the value true in the Value field.
  6. Click Add. A warning about configuration of this option preventing overlays from displaying is displayed.
  7. Click Yes. Documents are now configured to display in native image format.
