When Front Office Scanning is configured to retrieve documents using custom queries, each custom query is represented as an additional tab in the Related Documents pane.

When a user views a document retrieved by custom query, the Document Type buttons become available in the left panel of the Front Office Scanning client. The user can click any of these buttons to re-index the document based on the button's configuration. When the user exits the Front Office Scanning client, the re-indexed documents are linked to the current context in Epic.

Note:

This functionality does not work as expected in the SMART on FHIR integration. Although documents can be retrieved by custom query, the ability to re-index is limited.

To successfully re-index documents via the SMART on FHIR integration, ensure that the following conditions are met:

  • Both the original Document Type and the target Document Type include all the keyword types that you are indexing in Front Office Scanning.
  • Both document types have the same Keyword type configuration (such as Keywords belonging to a Keyword Type Group) for all keyword types that you are indexing in Front Office Scanning.
    • For example: Document Type A uses a Keyword Type Group (KTG) for the MRN and MPI Keywords, but Document Type B does not use a KTG for these two Keywords. In this case, if a document is re-indexed from Document Type A to Document Type B (or vice versa) via Front Office Scanning, the Keyword Types are not retained.
