To enable HTTP Activation in Windows Server:

  1. Open Windows Server Manager.
  2. Select Manage > Add Roles and Features.
    The Add Roles and Features Wizard is displayed.
  3. On the Select Installation Type page, select Role-based or feature-based installation.
  4. Click Next.
    The Select Destination Server page is displayed.
  5. Select the Application Server that will be communicating with the Image Retrieval API.
  6. Click Next.
    The Select Server Roles page is displayed.
  7. Click Next to skip to the Select Features page.
  8. Expand .NET Framework [X.X] Features, with [X.X] being the version of the .NET Framework specific to your version of Windows Server.
  9. Expand WCF Services.
  10. Select HTTP Activation.
  11. Click Next.
    The Confirm Installation Selections page is displayed.
  12. Confirm the HTTP Activation feature is selected for installation.
  13. Click Install.
  14. You may verify the HTTP handlers are configured correctly.
