Bi-directional communication must be enabled for Epic environments using the following integrations:
- SMART on FHIR integration with Epic Hyperdrive
- COM integration with Epic Hyperspace Classic or Epic Hyperdrive
Enabling bi-directional communication between Epic Hyperdrive or Epic Hyperspace Classic and the OnBase Web Viewer allows synchronization between both clients by using web messaging standards. For example, web messaging can communicate when a user performs a specific action on a document or when a document is initially loaded.
When bi-directional communication is enabled for SMART on FHIR integrations, you must also define which domains have authorization to establish bi-directional communication. Any domains that are not listed as authorized cannot establish bi-directional communication.
See the following topics:
- Enabling Bi-Directional Communication for SMART on FHIR Integrations
- Enabling Bi-Directional Communication for COM Integrations
CAUTION: When enabling bi-directional communication, you must
only enable it for the integration your environment has configured, either the SMART on
FHIR integration or the COM integration. If bi-directional communication is enabled for
both types of integrations, it will not work as intended.
