The Default Geocoder is applied to all geolocation-enabled Document Types that are not assigned to a geocoder. In some cases you may want to create a custom geocoder configuration to override the default geocoder settings. To create a new geocoder configuration, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Geolocation ribbon tab. The Geolocation layout is displayed.
  2. Click Add. The following dialog box is displayed.
  3. Enter a name for the new geocoder configuration in the Display Name field.
  4. Click OK. The following dialog box is displayed.
  5. Select one or more Document Types from the Available for Selection list and click Add to select them for use with this geocoder configuration.
  6. Select Use Exif over device location to only use location Exif metadata on an image document to determine geolocation coordinates, even if the device's location data is also captured when the document is imported into OnBase.
When this option is not selected, the device's location is used to generate map coordinates, as is the location Exif metadata on the image document (potentially generating two separate map points for the same document). This is because the device's location data is set when the document is imported into OnBase, while location Exif metadata is set when the image document is created.
  7. Click OK. The new geocoder is added to the Geocoder Configuration list.
