By configuring lab facilities in OnBase, you can map specific observation views that exist in your Centricity database to the names of the lab facilities that perform the services associated with these views.

Note:

Individual users can filter the observation views for the current user account on the current workstation. For more information, see Filtering Indexing Options by Workstation.

To configure the lab facilities:

  1. From the Centricity Indexing tab of the Assign Process Options for <scan queue> dialog box, click the Lab Facilities button. The Laboratory Facilities dialog box is displayed.
  2. From the View drop-down list, select All.
  3. Type the name of a lab facility in the text field and click Add to add it to the complete list of lab facilities. A confirmation message is displayed, asking if you wish to assign the new lab facility to all existing views. If you click No, then the new lab facility must be manually assigned to the appropriate view(s).
  4. Repeat step 3 for as many lab facilities as appropriate.
  5. From the View drop-down list, select a specific observation view. The default list of lab facilities is replaced by a workstation-specific Lab Facility Name list with check boxes next to the listed lab facility names.
    Note:

The View drop-down list only displays the first instance of views with the same name and views that contain active items. Non-first instances of views with the same name and views that do not contain active items are ignored.

  6. In the Lab Facility Name list, do the following:
    1. Select all lab facility names that you wish to assign to the specified observation view.
    2. Deselect all lab facility names that you do not wish to assign to the specified observation view.
      Note:

If you assign only one lab facility to an observation view, this lab facility is automatically selected and disabled in the Observations dialog box during indexing. If you assign multiple lab facilities to an observation view, the user entering the observations must choose the appropriate name. For more information, see Entering Observations.

    Note:

This lab facility mapping information is included in the observation data file sent to LinkLogic in the HL7 OBR-20 segment to identify the lab facility within the external lab report. This satisfies Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations in the U.S. regarding the identification of the responsible producing service.

  7. Repeat steps 5 to 6 for each observation view you wish to assign individual lab facility names to.
  8. When finished configuring lab facilities, click Save.
