Once the Data Capture Server Windows Service is started, and a user with the appropriate rights starts indexing a batch of image or PDF documents that has been configured for Interactive Data Capture, the Windows Service automatically OCRs the batch, stores the OCR data on the server, and overlays the documents with the data. With this OCR data in place, the user can then use the Auto-Complete, Point and Click, and Swiping features to simplify the indexing process.
When using any of these Interactive Data Capture indexing features, note the following:
-
To ensure efficient processing of large batches, the Data Capture Server Windows Service only OCRs a certain number of documents in a batch at a time before OCRing the next set of documents; it does not OCR all documents in a large batch simultaneously.
-
While Unity Forms are generally supported for Interactive Data Capture indexing features, note that Unity Forms are not supported for Interactive Data Capture indexing features on Keywords with select lists.
-
Interactive Data Capture indexing features are not available when the Selection Zoom or Hand Tool is selected on the Unity Client's Image tab. For more information on these and other Image tab options, see the Unity Client module reference guide.
-
Once a value is selected using any Interactive Data Capture indexing feature, you can press Ctrl+C to copy the value to the clipboard. A message indicating that text was copied is then displayed.
-
Depending on your configuration, a message may display the OCR text of a location on a document in the Document Viewer when you hover over that location.
-
Depending on your licensing and configuration, the following types of bar codes may be processed on documents using the Interactive Data Capture indexing features: Code 39 (3 of 9), Code 93, Code 128, Codabar, Interleaved 2 of 5, UPC-A, and UPC-E.
-
Text cannot be extracted for a Keyword Type value if it is longer than the Keyword Type's configured maximum length or if it does not match the Keyword's Data Type.
