Item
Description
Show Deficiencies
Select this option to display deficiency details on the report. If this option is cleared, no deficiency details are displayed, but all charts are still shown.
Show Delinquent Deficiency
Select this option to display deficiencies that are delinquent according to either the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) clock or the facility clock. The clock used is determined by the Use JCAHO Delinquency option.
For example, if Use JCAHO Delinquency is selected, a deficiency is omitted from the report if the deficiency is not delinquent by the JCAHO standard, even if it is delinquent by the facility standard.
Both the facility clock and JCAHO clock may be displayed on the report, but a deficiency's delinquency status is determined by only one or the other.
Show Normal Deficiencies
Select this option to display all deficiencies that do not meet the report's definition of delinquent (as explained above).
When this option is not selected, deficiencies that are NOT delinquent according to the report's definition are omitted from the report.
Display Facility Deficiency Clock
Select this option to display facility delinquency information from the deficiency details only. Charts/physicians always display both clocks.
Display JCAHO Deficiency Clock
Select this option to display the JCAHO deficiency clock.
Report On Closed Charts
Select this option to report on closed charts and completed deficiencies instead of open deficiencies. The report will include deficiencies that are considered completed.
Use JCAHO Delinquency
This option determines whether the report defines a deficiency as delinquent according to the JCAHO clock or the facility clock. Select this option to use the JCAHO clock to determine whether a deficiency is delinquent.
See Show Delinquent Deficiencies for more information about this setting.
Use Deficiency Date
Select this option to calculate delinquencies based on the date when the deficiency was created as opposed to the default date, which is the chart's discharge date.
When this option is not selected, only discharged delinquent charts are included in the report. When this option is selected, all delinquent charts are included.
Include Deficiency Totals
Select this option to display the total number of deficiencies in the Totals section at the end of the report.
Include Chart Totals
Select this option to display the total number of charts in the Totals section at the end of the report.
Include Medical Record Totals
Select this option to display the total number of delinquent Medical Records in the Totals section at the end of the report.
Include Deficiency Type Totals
Select this option to display the total number of delinquencies by deficiency Type in the Totals section at the end of the report.
Note:Document-level deficiencies are distinguished from chart-level deficiencies (e.g., Missing Document) in the Totals section of the Delinquency Report.
Include MR Age Totals
Select this option to display the Medical Record Age Totals in the Totals section at the end of the report.
Use JCAHO Totals
Select this option to add up the totals section based on JCAHO delinquencies instead of facility delinquencies.
Note:This option is independent of Use JCAHO Delinquency, which only affects which deficiencies are displayed.
Physicians by Chart
Select this option if you want the report to be organized by chart, with each physician who has deficiencies on that chart displayed underneath.
This information is grouped initially by facility, Department, and Admit Type.
Charts by Physician
Select this option if you want the report to be organized by physician, with each charts containing deficiencies displayed underneath.
This information is grouped initially by facility, Department, and Admit Type.
Create Text Report
Select this option to create and archive the report as a text document. The Document Type assigned to the report is determined by your system administrator.
Generate Dynamic View
Select this option to display a dialog box containing a tree view of the report as soon as the report is generated. The tree view is organized exactly like the text report. You can click on the items in the tree to display the corresponding report text in the bottom pane.
Note:For a Physicians by Chart report, chart delinquency information is shown with the physician, whereas it is shown with the physician's charts in a Charts by Physician report.
Deficiencies are color coded:
-
Red for delinquent
-
Blue for completed
-
Green for open
Minimum delinquency age to display
Select this option to force the report to display only delinquencies that have been delinquent for a certain amount of time, entered in days. The default, 0, forces the report to display all delinquencies.
JCAHO Delinquency Counter
Select this option to dynamically set the number of days used for the JCAHO delinquency clock. The value defaults to the standard 30.
Chart Admit Date Filter
Enter an admit date range by which to filter which charts are reported on. The report will query only charts with an admit date within the range.
The default date range of one year may be too large. Use a shorter time period to promote efficient use of system resources.

If you selected Create Dynamic View, the dynamic view is displayed automatically.
Note:
The top of the report states whether the totals shown are based on the facility delinquency clock or the totals shown are based on the JCAHO delinquency clock.
