Remote initiation connections, like forwarding connections, transmit data from a source system to a receiving system by passing outbound TCP traffic through the local message engine to the remote message engine, which then relays the traffic to the receiving system on its local network.
However, remote initiation connections are distinct from simple forwarding because the secure connection between the two Message Engine instances is initiated by the remote instance, or client side, rather than the side which is the source of the forwarded traffic.
Once the remote-initiated connection has been established between the client and server Message Engines, the server side Message Engine listens for local TCP traffic from the source system.
Traffic from the source system is then forwarded by the server to the client Message Engine, which in turn forwards the traffic to its destination, the receiving system.
