Multiple versions of OnBase Clients can be used on the same workstation as described previously. When using a Client that must connect to an Application Server in order to perform work (for example, with Application Server-based Workflow, Integrated Office Viewer, etc.), the Client version must match the version of the Application Server it is connecting to.
If your solution creates new users at their initial login, such as when using Auto-Login with Integrated (Domain) Authentication, their first logins must take place using the newer version Client software. If a new user belongs to a user group that has not yet had their workstation client upgraded, ensure their first login occurs from an upgraded workstation. Alternatively, an administrator can manually create users and place them in the proper groups.
There are two considerations regarding Workstation Registration for specific Client licenses:
This first consideration is relevant when the current version of the software is earlier than 8.0. When an IPUP involves a version this old, any new or updated product registrations must be registered to workstations using the newer version of OnBase. Registrations can be used by previous versions of the Client, but these associations must only be made in the upgrade version. For example, if a Client of version 8.0 logs into the database for the first time and registers the workstation for a Concurrent Client license, a newer Client will not be able to log in to OnBase on that workstation until the Concurrent Client license has been revoked and re-registered by an upgraded version of the Client.
The second consideration applies to running multiple versions of the Client on the same workstation. To do this, it is recommended to disable the Detect changes to Workstation identification setting in the Configuration module by navigating to Utils | Workstation Registration.
There is a default refresh interval for Process Job Scheduler and the Document List Refresh Rate. In versions prior to 8.2, the database location used for storing the refresh setting is different than it is in 8.2 and later. The minimum allowed refresh value is 100 seconds (1 minute and 40 seconds) and the maximum allowed refresh value is 300 seconds (5 minutes).
Typically, this setting is left at a default of 100 seconds. If this setting is changed in one version but not the other, the differing values may cause issues.
