Documents can be imported and saved directly into OnBase using the Office Business Application for 2019. See the following topics:

The following limitations apply when importing and saving OnBase documents using the Office Business Application for 2019:

  • When importing from a Microsoft Office file, the Preview pane is disabled, with a message reading "Preview is currently disabled."

  • The only way to save the document to OnBase is to click Save on the OnBase tab. In the Office Business Application for 2019, clicking the Save button on the Quick Access Toolbar, pressing Ctrl + S, or selecting Save from the Microsoft Office menu does not save the document to OnBase.

    CAUTION:

When saving a document to OnBase, do not close the Office application until the import to OnBase has completed. Closing the application before the import has completed can result in the loss of the document.

  • When you open a Microsoft Office document in the Unity Client and the Office Business Application for 2019 is installed, the only way to save the document to OnBase is to click the Save button on the Quick Access Toolbar. The Office Business Application for 2019 's OnBase tab is not supported.

  • When you open an Office document from OnBase, modify it, and close the document or the Office application before saving, you are prompted to save your changes. If you are prompted by a Microsoft Office dialog box, click Yes to display OnBase options.

  • Protected files, such as password-protected Excel worksheets, cannot be saved to OnBase using Office Business Application for 2019. To save a protected file to OnBase, it must be imported to OnBase outside of Office Business Application for 2019.

  • Office Business Application for 2019 does not support compound Excel documents.

  • Office Business Application for 2019 does not support recovery options. If a document is recovered, unsaved changes should be added to a new retrieval of the document from OnBase.

  • Microsoft Office template files create new documents within Office and should not be archived as OnBase documents for modification. OnBase templates should be used to fulfill the use-case of creating documents from a template.

  • The Document Preview does not display when importing a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file as a revision.
