You can scan a bar code and use the bar code value as search criteria. For example, you can scan a bar code on a patient's wrist band and search for the patient based on the scanned value. The following bar codes types are supported:

  • Aztec

  • Code 128

  • Code 39

  • Code 93

  • QR

To scan a bar code and use its value as search criteria, complete the following steps:

  1. Tap to select the search field you want to populate with the value from the bar code.
  2. Tap the Scan Barcode icon at the top of the screen:

    A bar code scanning interface is displayed.

  3. Aim the device so the bar code is lined up within the area indicated on the screen.
  4. When the code is successfully read by the scanner, the search field is populated and the patient search is executed.
