You can scan a bar code and use the bar code value as search criteria. For example, you can scan a bar code on a patient's wrist band and search for the patient based on the scanned value. The following bar codes types are supported:

  • Aztec

  • Code 128

  • Code 39

  • Code 93

  • QR

To scan a bar code and use its value as search criteria:

  1. Tap to select the search field you want to populate with the value from the bar code.
  2. Tap the Scan Barcode icon at the top of the screen:
    Note:

    You may be prompted to allow permission for the app to access the device camera. This permission is required to use the bar code scanning interface.

    A bar code scanning interface is displayed.

  3. Aim the device so the bar code is lined up within the area indicated on the screen.
  4. When the code is successfully read by the scanner, a confirmation screen displays showing the scanned value.
  5. To continue the search using the scanned value, tap Search.
