Often there will be a need to print a PCL document in a font that has no exact match in the Windows family of operating systems. The Font Mapping button provides a solution to this problem by allowing a printer font to be mapped to the Windows font.
Many printer fonts exist, compared to a relative handful of fonts that Windows directly supports. If a PCL file is using a printer font that has no exact match in the Windows operating system, Windows defaults to a font it does have. This alters how the PCL file is supposed to look. Using Font Mapping allows OnBase to substitute a printer font for a Windows font, assuring that the PCL file prints exactly as it is supposed to.
