  • Can a PCL document have an overlay?

Yes. A PCL document can have a TIFF file or a PCL Macro file as an overlay.

    Note:

PCL Macro files can only be used as an overlay for documents with a PCL file format.

  • Can you change the size of the overlay in the Overlay Options dialog box settings?

Yes, if the overlay is a TIFF. If the overlay is a PCL Macro file the PCL commands in the file will cause it to line up with the PCL document.

  • What is a PCL Macro file?

A PCL Macro file is a copy of a PCL Macro that was originally stored in a printer's memory. The printer uses the macro to apply overlays to PCL files that are being printed. The macro file and the PCL file must be specifically written to work together. Different overlays can be applied to different documents or even to different pages of the same document.

  • I cannot view the overlay on my PCL document, why?

The overlay option for the default view was removed or was not added. Add it back and it now should be viewable with the overlay.
