To accommodate emergency access situations, you can configure OnBase Patient Window to include restricted patient records in patient search results and patient lists.
By default, patient records protected by patient-level confidentiality codes are omitted from Patient Window search results and patient lists unless one of the following conditions is met:
- The user has privileges to all patient-level confidentiality codes in effect on the patient record.

The following procedure changes the default behavior by allowing users who have the Allow Confidentiality Code Override Access privilege to retrieve patient records that they normally would not be able to access. The following Patient Window contexts are affected:
- Patient Search
- Scheduled Patient Search
- Patient Lists
If a user opens a restricted record from one of these contexts, the user can view patient metadata in the patient banner, but the user cannot view the contents of the patient record unless the user obtains confidentiality code override access.
