Record Locator: A record locator provides valuable information about a record. Record locators contain information such as Keyword Values, repository information, specific location of the record, ID, check out history, current status, and pending requests. Record locators are also where requests, check outs, check ins, copy requests, transfers, and record locator modifications can be performed.
Check Out: When a record is checked out, the record has been physically located and given to the user who has made the request for the record. The status then becomes "checked out."
Check In: When a record is checked in, the record has physically been returned to the location specified in the record locator. The status then becomes Available, and other users can check out the record.
Request: A request is an action that signals that a user would like to check out a record. Requests are necessary when a record is already checked out and/or when the configuration requires a second party, such as an administrator, to check out a record on a user's behalf.
Copy Request: A copy request is an action that signals that a user wants a physical copy of the record.
Transfer: A transfer is an action that changes the user in possession of a checked out record to another user.
Repository: A repository is a collection of records that share similar locations, and the same rules.
Location: A location identifies the physical location of a record for easy retrieval in order to give records to users who have been granted permission to possess records. Locations are configurable and can vary from one repository to another.
