Public Access is an independent Web Server module that consists of a front-end client with JavaScript controls and a back-end API. This module allows public users who do not have an individual OnBase user account to perform searches and view documents.

The controls can be placed onto a page within an existing public-facing website. The page and the controls can then be styled to provide a consistent look and feel. Pre-configured page templates are also included, to give an example of how the controls can be implemented on a page. However, the templates should not be used instead of creating a new page with the same style and look of the existing web site.

Users can be presented with a search panel to find documents on their own, or search results can display automatically when search values are preconfigured. Documents viewed in Public Access can be displayed using an in-line viewer or in a new browser window, and can be converted to PDF for display to ensure compatibility and a consistent user experience.

Alternatively, you can develop your own interface for the Public Access API for a seamless integration.

Note:

The Public Access front-end client interacts with the API to display documents which may be converted to a PDF file format, depending on system configuration. Public users should have an application installed on their computer which allows for viewing PDF files. Use caution when using Public Access to serve extremely large text data or image files, as this may cause the conversion process to fail, or users with poor connections may be forced to wait a significant time to download the document.
