When configuring a Document Type for image documents to be signed in the Web Client, you must configure the Document Type for redactions.
To configure a Document Type for redactions:
- In the Configuration module, select Document | Document Types.
- Select the Document Type from which users will be able to create a redacted version of the document type.
-
Click Redaction. The Redaction Options dialog box is displayed.
- Determine whether you want to save the redacted document as a separate Document Type, or as a revision of the current document.
-
Select one of the following:
-
Standard redaction method
Select this option to allow users to create a new redacted document from the original document. From the Document Type Group drop-down list, select the Document Type Group that contains the Document Type where you want to store redacted documents. From the Document Type drop-down list, select the Document Type for storing redacted documents.
To delete the original document from the original Document Type and save only the new, redacted document in its Document Type, select Delete Original Document. Once a document is deleted using this redaction method, it is sent to Document Maintenance, where it can then be purged from the system.
Note:When using a redaction with the Delete Original Document option selected, the document is not deleted if it is locked.
Note:For the Standard redaction method, if the original Document Type contains a Multi-Instance Keyword Type Group, the Document Type for the redacted version must contain the same Multi-Instance Keyword Type Group to ensure Keyword Values and relationships are retained on the redacted document.
-
Revision redaction method
This option is available for revisable Document Types (Rendition/Revisions settings are configured to Allow Multiple Revisions) when EDM Services is licensed.
Document Types configured as Read-Only cannot be redacted using this method. The ability to draw redactions will be available, but users will be unable to save the redactions.
-
Replace original redaction method
CAUTION:Before using the Replace original redaction method, understand that unlike using the Delete Original Document option, which sends documents to Document Maintenance, this method immediately deletes the original document from the Disk Group. Once a user redacts a document using this method, the original document is purged from the system and cannot be recovered.
This option is available for non-revisable document types that do not allow multiple renditions. It can only be used on image documents. Once applied to a document, the original document is purged from the system and is replaced by the redacted document. The redacted document maintains the Document History of the original document.
Note:The Replace original redaction method is not supported for redactions made to Image Rendered PDF documents in the Web Client.

Select Save when complete.
