If you have created a signature that you would like to later link to another existing signature, you can do so without duplicating signatures. In other words, you have already set the location and size of the signatures; you simply want to replace one or more of them with another signature's configuration (this does not affect size and location). Once signatures are linked, configuration changes you make to one location will apply to other locations. When a user selects the configuration and signs a document, the signature is displayed in all of the linked locations.

To link two or more existing signatures:

  1. From the Signature Configuration tab, expand the Document Type that contains the signature you want to edit in the Configured Document Types pane by double-clicking it or clicking the triangle next to it.
  2. Select the file path, right-click, and select View File.

The sample document is displayed with any signatures you have configured on it.

  3. Place the cursor inside the configured signature you'd like to replace. The signature will be highlighted with the following buttons available:
    Note:

When you highlight a signature, all locations for that signature are highlighted. Configuration changes you make to one location will apply to other locations. This does not include changes to a signature's size or location on the document.

  4. Click the drop-down portion of the Edit button.
  5. Select Link Signature.

You are prompted to select the signature you'd like to link this signature to. In other words, you are replacing the configuration on the first signature with the configuration from the signature you ultimately select (this does not affect size and location).

In the example below, Link Signature was chosen from the bottom signature. The bottom signature will take on the configuration from the signature selected after this point, retaining its location and size.

If at any time you would like to cancel out of the linking process, press the Esc key.

  6. Select the signature you want to link the selected signature to.
The signatures are linked. If you move the cursor over one of the signatures, all of the linked signatures are highlighted. Notice they share the same signature name and signature byline.
