In the Statement Designer, every two minutes, the current layout file is saved to a temporary file (~stmttemp~.bak). The temporary file is deleted when the layout is manually saved by the user. If the Designer starts up and finds that a temporary file associated with the current statement layout is present, then it will assume that some failure occurred the last time the Designer was opened and will load the temporary file in place of the last saved version of the layout.
