The API connection is configured in the Statement Designer tool. When you create the .odf file, you are automatically logged on and connected to the data source specified in the API connection settings dialog box. To create the .odf file, you must have a connection to the API using the user name and password that connects to your database.

To configure an API connection:

  1. From the main menu, select Configure | API connection. The API connection settings dialog box is displayed.
  2. Enter your user name for the database in the Username field.
    Note:

You must enter a valid user name that connects to your database, not an OnBase user name.

  3. Enter your password for the database in the Password field.
  4. Select the data source name from the Datasource drop-down list.
  5. From the Connect to section, select the ODBC option.
    Note:

The connection options for Thick API, Core API, and Desktop API are legacy options that are not supported with Statement Composition.

  6. Click OK.
    Note:

If you cannot connect to the API, ensure the API is installed and the Archival API license is registered.
