Objects can be suppressed based on the suppression of other objects. For example, a rectangle surrounds a data stream object; suppression links can prohibit the rectangle from being displayed when the data stream is suppressed. If suppression links were not used, the rectangle would still be displayed on the statement even though there was no data inside it. Suppression links can be added to any external text or data stream object. To add suppression links to an object:

  1. In the Designer, right-click on the object that you would like to add a suppression link to and select Suppression links ....
  2. In the Suppression links dialog box, select one or more object in the Available object: box. If you do not know which object you want to link, you can select an object and click the Show highlighted object button to view the object.
  3. Click Add. All selected objects move to the Linked objects: box.
  4. Click OK.
