When creating an object definition, you must connect to the API. If you entered incorrect user credentials when configuring the API settings, the following errors are displayed when you click the Create a New Object Definitions button:

  • Login failed for user '[user name]'(where [user name] is the current user name entered in the API connection settings dialog box)

  • Unable to connect to API, please verify connection settings

To resolve this issue:

  1. Click OK to each of the displayed errors. The API connection settings dialog box is displayed.
  2. Verify the entered Username and Password fields contain credentials that connect directly to the database selected in the Datasource drop-down list, not to OnBase.
    Note:

If the entered credentials are not database credentials, you cannot connect to the API and are unable to create object definition files.

  3. Verify the ODBC option is selected from the Connect to options.
    Note:

The connection options for Thick API, Core API, and Desktop API are legacy options that are not available with Statement Composition.

For more information on the API connection settings, see API Settings.
