When a user prints a bar code document that was created using a statement format, the bar codes may be stretched or unreadable. This issue is caused by the screen resolution on the workstation where the document is printed. Lower resolutions, such as 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768, may hinder bar code recognition.

To address this issue without increasing the workstation's screen resolution, you must modify the statement format to specify a printer device for rendering. The workstations that will submit the printing requests must have access to this printer device, even if documents won't be printed by this device.

  1. Open the statement format in the utility that generated it. Statement formats can be generated using any of the following utilities:
    • Statement Designer

    • Face Sheet Designer

    • ROI Document Designer

  2. Select Configure | Document options.
  3. Click the ellipsis button (...) next to the Render device for display field. The Print dialog box is displayed.
  4. Select the printer to use for rendering documents. This selection does not specify the printer that will print the documents. It only specifies the printer device to be used for rendering. When the documents are printed, they will reflect the DPI of the printer device selected here.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Save the statement format.
